Take it or leave it.

In 2008, I voted for President Barack Obama. I was uneducated, ignorant and unaware as to why I even voted in the first place. I have never understood government, never paid any mind to issues that came about and were affecting my life. In 2009, I joined the U.S. Navy. At this point, in my opinion, I realized the mistake that I made by placing my vote at the ballot and not understanding why. My wife took a political science class in 2010 and explained to me what Democrats and Republicans stood for. One thing I took from it and made simple was Democrats believe in change, Republicans like things to stay the same but still advance forward. I realized that while I like change, I don’t like the way that President Obama is bringing about that change. I also realized that I prefer things to stay the same while moving forward. I couldn’t tell you whether I am a Democrat or a Republican.
I am taking this class because well it’s one of the general education classes I am required to take. But that’s not the only reason. I want to educate myself and be prepared for the 2012 election so that I don’t make the same mistake I did last time. I want to understand the issues that are arising in our country and try my best to do what I can to help change it. To put it into simple terms, I’m here to learn and understand, just as any American who goes to vote should.

Take it or leave it.
